《庞邦本油画选》前言
在中国，以写实手法表现的油画，其传统不仅有时代因素，还在于它和传统的审美趣味相一致。 因为我关注生活。于是在我的笔下是平凡的老百姓。
我在追求严谨沉稳的东方的形式构架的同时，兼容了西方近代的绘画传统——从新古典主义到印象派。 我追求作品的内涵和一种人道主义的感染力。
这些油画和我以往的连环画、插图作品保持着一定的连续性。这种连续性使我在油画创作中更深入的刻画人物成为可能。 （摘自2001年人民美术出版社出版的《庞邦本油画集》）

In China,realistic oil paintings have unique traditions which reflect the flavor of their particular time without violating traditional aesthetic taste. Common people come under my own realistic brush because I am interested in ordinary life while my pursuit of stable and rigorous oriental frames of reference is amalgamated with modern Western painting traditions from the neoclassic to the impressionistic. I seek the implications of the profound and let humanity’s artistic appeal color my oils building on my earlier work in picture-story books and illustration to allow greater depth to the figures now depicted.
