“Art Beijing 2007”is Ready

In the beautiful spring, Beijing ArtFair Culture Co., Ltd, the organizer of Art Beijing 2007, received the license [2007] 396 issued by the Ministry of Culture on March 15, 2007. It also set up an Executive Committee and published that “Art Beijing 2007” would be held from September 20th to 23rd, 2007 in the new hall of the National Agricultural Exhibition Center.

When the official statement issued, 50 galleries from all over the world posted the well-filled application from to the Executive Committee in just two weeks. the supportive galleries such as Arario Beijing, Lin & Keng Gallery, Main Trend Gallery, Dimensions Art Center, Pekin Fine Art, Shang Hai Aura Gallery, Red Gate Gallery, Pyo Gallery and Beijing Han Mo Art Gallery all expressed their willing to join the art fair this year.

After several meetings held by the “Art Beijing” committee, the organizer and participants both agreed that China was the country attracted the closest attentions on Asian art now, and it was also the platform of art in Asia. So the principle of this art fair was still carrying the Asian art culture forward. In order to achieve this, the proportion of Asian galleries would be 2/3, and the Western galleries might account for 1/3.

Dong Mengyang, the executive director of the Art Fair expressed that the long target of “Art Beijing” should be focus on “Promoting the Chinese contemporary art”. Though now the most exhibitors were featured by contemporary art, in the short run, programs and art fairs about the ancient art, design art, Chinese brush drawing, photography and video would also be included. The organizer expects 130 exhibitors from all over the world will participate in Art Beijing 2007, which will be a leading art fair in Asian art market.
