“里应外合:首届峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”前言

  在全球化的文化背景下,在一个媒体如此发达的信息时代,一个城市无论有多小,也无它论离中心有多远,都可以因其在文化领域的独特创造而产生国际性的影响。西班牙的毕尔巴鄂曾经是一个一文不名的小城,却因古根海姆分馆的建立闻名遐迩,每年要吸引150万的游客。峨眉山市比它大得多,而且具有得天独厚的自然和人文资源,完全有条件在旅游开发的基础上把自己打造成一座具有当代意义的文化名城。峨眉山市因山得名,是一座有着1400多年历史、有着深厚文化底蕴的古城,境内的峨眉山是世界自然与文化双遗产、国家5A级风景名胜区和中国四大佛教名山之一,素有“仙山佛国”、“地质博物馆”、“峨眉天下秀”之美誉。峨眉山市为了沟通自然遗产、传统文化和当代文化的血脉,提升城市现代化和国际化水准,决定以“峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”的方式凸显其文化形象,无疑是一个具有文化远见的决策。 “首届峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”的主题为“里应外合”。这一主题原是我在中国新水墨画院全力支持下主编的一本画册的题目,意指在当代水墨领域两股相向的力量共同推动传统水墨向着当代语境转化的现状。现在移用为“首届峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”的主题,也甚感恰当。因为邀请展的方向和目标就是将国外的请进来,使国内的走出去,在“里应外合”中完成一个城市的国际化现代化的文化进程。我们清楚地意识到,在今天,以数字化、信息化、网络化和以经济一体化为前导的全球化风潮,已经模糊和瓦解了所有地域文化的边界,摧毁了所有“院墙式”的文化“防御工事”,无限制地敞开了地域文化的生存环境,使其成为多元化的全球文化的一个组成部分。因此,全球化的文化环境理应是一种多元并存又相互渗透的文化环境,而不是一个以西方为中心、以强(强势文化)凌弱(弱势文化)的文化环境。不同文化之间不仅应该寻求相互沟通的可能性,而且应该保持自己对艺术的阐释能力和判断标准。全球化与本土化不是一种对抗的关系,相反,全球化为本土文化的发展和多种文化之间的沟通带来新的契机。我们共处于一个多种文化并存的星球上,不同文化之间的交流与沟通势在必然。特别是,要使自身文化得到世界性的扩散,就必须首先考虑如何实现不同文化之间的交流,而交流的第一要义,就是要接近对方而不是远离对方。而接近对方的过程,就是一个了解、接纳、兼容与渗透的过程,一个“均质化”的过程。“首届峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”正是以里应外合的方式来实现这一国际化进程。整个展览的策展理念,都意在释放当代艺术与城市文化互惠的能量,表达出一座世界文化与自然双遗产城市放眼全球和通向未来的胸襟与梦想。“首届峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”时在隆冬,巍峨的峨眉山如一部打开的“史书”,等待着来自全国各地和世界各地的艺术家来“阅读”欣赏。“君不见峨眉山西雪千里,北望成都如井底。”苏轼笔下的峨眉山是何等气势!“峨眉山上月如眉,濯锦江中霞似锦。”在骆宾王眼中,峨眉山又是何等地诗意盈然!而正值隆冬的“首届峨眉当代艺术国际邀请展”,又是如何在里应外合中展现它的当代风采,让我们拭目以待。

  Under the background of cultural globalization, and in a media era of so rich information, no matter how small a city is, or how far it is from the center, it can exert international influence because of its unique creation in the field of culture. Bilbao in Spain once was a poor and unknown town. However, thanks to the establishment of the Guggenheim Branch Museum, it becomes famous in the world, attracting 1.5 million visitors per year. E’mei  City is much bigger than it, and has the unique natural and cultural resources. It is quite qualified to put itself into a cultural city with contemporary significance on the basis of the tourism development. E’mei City, an ancient city with 1,400 years of history and profound cultural accumulation, is named for the Mount Emei, which is one of the world natural and cultural heritage, one of the national 5 A-class scenic areas and one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, known as “the Town of Buddhist”, “geological museum”, “the most beautiful scenery in China”. In order to integrate natural heritage, traditional culture and contemporary culture, as well as to improve the modernization and internationalization levels of the city, E’mei City decided to highlight its cultural image in the way of holding “E’mei International Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition”, which is a decision of cultural vision. The theme of “The 1st  E’mei International Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition” is “collaboration from within with forces from outside”, which is the title of an album edited by me with the full support of Chinese New Ink Fine Art Institute before.The title means that two opposite forces in the field of contemporary ink art promote the transformation of traditional ink art in the contemporary context, and it is also very appropriate to use it as the theme of this exhibition, because its direction and goal is to invite the foreign art and let the domestic art go out, achieving the international and modern culture process of a city in the “course collaboration from within with forces from outside”. We are clearly aware that, at present, the trend of globalization, with the guard of digitization, informatization, networking and economic integration, has blurred and broken down the boundary of regional culture, destroyed all the wall-type culture fortifications, and limitlessly expanded the living conditions of regional culture, as a result, the regional culture becomes a part of the diversified global culture. Therefore, the globalized cultural environment is supposed to be a cultural environment of co-existence and mutual penetration, rather than a Western-centric culture environment, in which the strong culture bullies the weak one. Different culture should not only seek the possibility of mutual communication, but also should hold the ability of art interpretation and the standard of art judgment. Globalization and localization should not be in a relation of confrontation. On the contrary, the globalization brings new opportunities for the development of the local culture and the communication among a variety of culture. We are in a planet of various coexisted culture, so, the exchanges and the communication among different culture are inevitable. In particular, if we want to spread our own culture worldwide, we must firstly consider how to realize the communication among different culture, and the first factor of communication is to be close to each other rather than stay away from each other. What’s more, the process of being close to each other is a process of understanding, acceptance, compatiblity and permeation, and a process of homogenization. The First E’mei  International Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition actually realizes the aforesaid internationalization process in the way of collaboration from within with forces from outside. The concept of the exhibition is to release the reciprocal energy of contemporary art and city culture, as well as to express the mind and dream of a city with the honors of world natural and cultural heritage, which has the whole world in view and looks into the future. The First E’mei  International Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition is holding in the depth of winter, when the majestic Mount E’mei , looking like an unfolded history book, waits for the artists from all over the country and all over the world to read and appreciate. Su Shi, a famous poet in the Song Dynasty, once wrote, “Have you noticed that the snow on the west side of the Mount E’mei  extends thousands of miles? Consequently, Chengdu City at north of it only has a limited outlook.”The imposing manner of the Mount E’mei  is perfectly described. Luo Binwang, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote, “Above the Mount Emei is the eyebrow-shaped moon, which is reflected in the ZhuoJin River, like a piece of brocade.” it is clear that, in the eyes of Luo Binwang, the Mount E’mei is rich in poetic flavor! How the First E’mei  International Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition held in the depth of winter to show the elegant demeanor of the contemporary art in the way of collaboration from within with forces from outside, let's wait and see!
